Well I realized I haven't posted on here in quite a while and I popped back over to let you know I am not dead. I was struggling with a bout of depression, kinda reverted back into my shell for a bit to regroup. I have to do it every once in a while. I give away A LOT of myself to others all the time, I dont like to tell people no, and to that end I find myself heavily over committed to every aspect of my life. Then I get overtired. From overtired I slip very easily into a depressed mode because I haven't spent enough time on myself, doing the things I love the most. Mainly cuddling with my dog, sleeping, and taking pictures. I plan to take some time for myself once the duties of my best friends wedding are fufilled. I am fully focused on everything for her now.. After that I can start breathing more freely. Maybe take a vacation. Shoot, the world is my oyster. I am a 26 yr old completely independent woman.
On a lighter note, I joined Perfectmatch.com yesterday. Found quite a few acceptable fellows, mainly guys in law enforcment and wrote a few 'hello' emails. We shall see where this developement takes me. Cross ur fingers ladies and gents. After Aja and Kenny's wedding this last weekend I really want to meet my soul mate. Those two kids have such an amazing bond. I want what they have! I am going to try to imbed a video from this last weekend in this blog, of all the pictures I took.
A little bit about this last weekend. My mom Facebooked me, and told me to make a Bestie Memory with Stef, LP, Jon and Cyndy. I would say we did a pretty bang up job of making memories.
Lets start with Thursday. I drove up to work at the SLO chp office for the night ( what a gorgeous center!!) and I met Stef and she took Ginger off my hands. I worked all night and stopped by Shell Beach on the way back to Santa Maria where I was staying and took some pictures of the sun rise. It was beautiful. I arrive back in SM to go to sleep and Stef tells me that Ginger has been less than a good girl, including barfing in her bed. Good lord. Great way to start the weekend. Then Cynd and Stef went on their way and I went to sleep, only to be woken up every 2 hrs or so by Ginger and her boyfriend Harry barking at anything that moved outside.
Lp and Jon arrived early afternoon, and we took off for SLO. Rehersal dinner was at woodstock pizza where we met all of A and K's fam and close friends, then it was a short walk over to the 300 yr old mission where they were to be wed the next day. The rehersal itself was a rather giggly affair. I was having a hard time containing myself. Then it was off too Avila Beach for a big ole bonfire where bestie memory #1 occures. We got my new-to-me Dodge Ram 1500 stuck in the sand because I didnt know it was a 2 wheel drive. We spent a good 1/2 hour digging the sand out from under it and letting all the air out of its tires to get it to moved. I blame all my sore muscles on this memory alone. After some lovely chatting and mellow toasting we headed home. We stopped by Albertsons in SM for earplugs and this is where bestie #2 memory occures. As we wait in line, each of us has our own little pile of things to buy. me first with candy (go figure), earplugs and facewash. that check out goes fine. Then its Cyndy with Champagne and orange juice for breakfast mimosas. This is where things fall apart. LP will never look older than 18.. while she is 27 she is cursed with a petite frame and extremely young face. The cashier takes one look at LP and declares that she needs to see ALL of our ID's for the champagne purchase. Hold up what? After Jon, Cyndy, and I give eachother the death look, LP, smart girl that she is, pipes up, " Im not with her!" she declares. "We are in different cars!!". We wouldnt have needed to plead our case if LP looked her age, or perhaps carried her ID with her when she goes to the store, but alas neither of those are the case an we were not about to go with out our breakfast treat. Thankfully the tired clerk didnt argue and the champagne was purchased. of course as we are leaving LP tells Cynd "Ill see you back at the house!"... I can still feel the death stare from the clerk burning two holes in my back as we shuffled out of the store.
Then it was off to the hot tub for a relaxing soak before bed. I was asleep before my head hit the pillow, Ginger curled up in the fetal position next to me. Geez I love my dog.
The next day didnt arrive for quite some time for me! I didnt get up till 1145. Genius. I felt like a million bucks. After a quick shower and barn paint session, I zipped up to SLO to get my nails done before the wedding. I have a tendency to let my nails get all jacked up and I wanted to look nice and girly for the big shindig. There was a cutie going that I was bound and determined to impress! Anyway, I barely escaped the spa, 10 minutes before the wedding was supposed to start. as I am racing to the mission Stef calls, can I please park the two cars that the bride and bridesmaids came in because they are double parked. After huffin and puffin it to and from the parking garage to the mission 3 times I finally make it to the wedding. I was a little bit late but thats okay. The ceremony was gorgeous. What a couple. They are both gorgeous and so incredibly in love. There was a few things that made this ceremony unique. First off, there was a green peace festival being held at the foot of the mission, complete with a band. that had very loud drums. Kudos to the priest for raising his voice to try and cover it! Second, the mission is an L shaped church and we only sat in one area. The two areas cant be seen by each other unless you are in the first pew. Well, in the empty side there was a transient sleeping. and snoring. LOUDLY. We were trying not to giggle when we heard, and you could see everyone descreetly looking around for the source. Also Kenny had to light the unity candle with Aja and he ended up blowing his moms lit candle out. He had to borrow light from Aja's moms candle to get his mommas lit again. Everyone giggled. The priest was a pretty laid back guy considering all this. As far back as I can remember this is my first true Catholic wedding. It was really interesting.
After pictures and congratulations had been passed around we all blazed down to Pismo to Guissepes restaurant for the reception. Which I can tell you was the best reception I have ever been to. Set in a separate building from the actual restaurant, our area was designed with an italian villa in mind. Warm colored walls and neutral fabrics drapped across the ceiling, sturdy rough hewn wood tables and chairs with elegant red roses and red rose petals covering everything. One whole wall was open to a small rose garden with a few vintage vespas in it as lawn ornaments. With an open bar, the party got started pretty quickly. I stuck with my fav, Red bull and diet coke concoction, since I knew I would be driving later. The cute boy sat at our table, sad news though, it was discovered 1/2 way through the reception that he was gay. Bummer. The food was amazing though. we had hot and cold hourdourves, feta cheese salad, penne pasta in red sauce and then the main course for me was a devine cut of filet minon wrapped and cooked in bacon and drizzeled w/ a meat and mushroom broth. I still reserve that it was the best piece of meat I have ever eaten in my whole life. Which only goes to show that this was the best wedding EVER! Anyway, dancing and cake cutting and singing out lyrics, beautiful toasts and more crazy dancing and then it was time for the carriage to turn back into a pumpkin and time for me to head home. What a weekend what a weekend. I love my best friends.
