Almost an entire month with out a post. Why? Because my laptop took a major life-ending dive and has been in the shop. Being that this is the month for giving thanks, I have found myself intent on blogging several times and doing it from my phone isn't terribly appealing.
Well the trusty laptop is back. Working. Purring under my finger tips at this very moment. I am so thankful for that. I am so thankful for friends and family that can help me get back on my feet when I don't know how.
My work's Christmas party is in 3 days. I have never been, since I suffer from self-diagnosed anxiety when I am in large groups (Weddings are awful) but, this year I am going. Surprise! In fact, I am helping. I've discovered the quickest way to overcome the anxiety is to give me a job - a purpose at the event. Guess what my purpose is?? A photo booth!! I've been squirreling around the last few days picking up last minute props and outfit accouterments and I have to say, I am starting to get excited about Friday. I know that what I am doing will bring joy to the people that attend and it will bring me joy to bring them joy. I am thoroughly proud of my outfit by the way. A snappy little cream silk top with a cream cashmere-esque cardigan, dark jeans (its outdoors) and b-e-a-utiful Poetic License gold heels. Topped with some rockin' hair and some vintage looking gold and pearl earrings and a truly vintage gold clutch and I will be the belle of my own ball. Nothing gets me in the mood for a party more than the right outfit.
It is currently 7 am. I've been awake since 4. Tossed a turkey in the oven and some tatters into boiling water and hopped on my newly-returned-home elliptical and worked it for an hour while watching Anchors Aweigh circa 1945. Franky, Gene and Katheryn Grayson. Great flick. Especially Gene. Nothing like watching that beautiful face for an hour. He was a heart throb.
Don't you think Jon Hamm looks a lot like him?
And did you know he was a high school history teacher before acting? That is truly the hottest thing EVER. Now if he can dance and sing I think I would have to just up and marry him.
But I digress, I had an awesome thanksgiving. I had to work 14 hours so the girls at work, and I, put on a thanksgiving feast there. It was spectacular. I made my creamed corn and tried out a new stuffing recipe and made the pumpkin cookies all ahead of time.Oh I also made my sisters tasty mashed potatoes. Then when I got off work at 6 am on Thanksgiving morning I just skipped home, tossed the turkey in a bag and then into the oven and went to sleep. Everything was ready when I woke up and off I went, new apron on, to work. It went so smoothly. I was very pleased. I am still working on timing so that all foods are hot and ready to eat at the same time and I feel like this was the closest I have ever gotten to that effect. It feels good to know that my culinary and timing skills are improving, and that I still enjoy setting the mood. My co-workers are my family. I spend so much time with them that I can't imagine not sharing a holiday with them. It was truly a blessing.
So my turkey is smelling oh-so-tasty which means its about time to wrap this up, for now. I will be back soon. Love to all.
Cheers.
Bex XOXO
